Hoshino Resort Nekoma Mountain (Former Alts Bandai)
Why Hoshino Resort Nekoma Mountain?
Hoshino Resorts Nekoma Mountain (formerly Alts Bandai & Nekoma Ski Resort) is a large ski resort with 33 courses and 13 lifts. Slopes with different views spread out to the north and south of Nekoma-ga-take, one of the “Bandai Mountain” mountains, one of the 100 famous mountains in Japan. The connecting lifts connecting the north area (formerly Nekoma Ski Resort) and the south area (formerly Alts Bandai) allow you to enjoy the vast ski slopes more freely.
Here is very much a hidden gem and offers amazing, virtually untouched powder. With some of the best terrain and snow quality, it’s a powder hound paradise. With heaps of freedom, and a large ski field to match there is plenty of backcountry and tree runs to explore, and with little crowding, particularly on weekdays, there is sure to be more powder just for you.
The resort is made up of 29 pistes, totalling 30km in length. It is also known for its family-friendliness with a large Family Zone, as well as a terrain park and night park. Alongside both beautiful groomed and ungroomed terrain, the resort also offers backcountry and CAT tour options and is available in both Japanese and English. The resort also has an online sign up system which will allow free access to the #2 Pair Lifts; perfect for beginners and children. While the resort lacks a village, it caters well for its guests with established facilities and services, including a built in Onsen hot spring and delicious, high quality food. If the resort isn’t enough, Alts Bandai is located close to a number of towns which can be easily accessed for a local Japanese experience.
On top of Alts Bandai’s spectacular powder and skiing, the nearby Nekoma Ski Field is also a must visit. Nekoma too, is an uncrowded field offering great freedom, quality powder and abundant off-piste runs. If you’re looking to make the most of the Japanese powder (and lots of it) then Alts Bandai is one our most highly recommended ski fields to visit.
